Aftercare

Before you leave the shop, your tattoo will be bandaged in either Saniderm or cling wrap.

Saniderm is nice and convenient but cling wrap works best if your skin is sensitive to adhesives or the area is on a joint that sees a lot of movement.

Saniderm can be left on for 2-3 days after your tattoo. Tattoos sent home with cling wrap should only be wrapped for the first night and cleaned in the morning with standard aftercare to follow.

If your Saniderm comes off before the 2-3 day mark on it's own, or peels up to where the tattoo is exposed or water can enter, remove it entirely and proceed with aftercare as normal.

Saniderm should be removed gently under running water. To remove, gently pick at the corner and remove it slowly.

You should wash your tattoo twice a day, morning and night, with an unscented liquid hand soap (such as Dial Gold) and followed up with a THIN layer of either Aquaphor or an unscented white lotion (such as Eucerin) for about two weeks until a majority of the flaking has ceased.

Tattoos with heavy color or areas of solid black may take longer to heal, this is normal. Allow up to one month for these areas to fully heal.

DO's and don'ts

DO

- Be sure to keep your tattoo clean by washing morning and night for the first two weeks.

- Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight for at least a month following the appointment.

- Keep any pets from licking or touching the fresh tattoo.

DON'T

- Submerge your new tattoo in a bath, hot tub, pool, or open body of water for a month following your appointment.

- Use a tanning bed for a month following your appointment.

- Pick at skin that is flaking. This will cause ink to remove the skin prematurely and result in a patchy heal.

  • I submitted an inquiry through your booking form. What's next?
Please allow me a few days to get back to you via email - I am usually able to respond within 2-3 days, but every now and then things get backed up. You should receive a response within a week at the latest.
  • How should I prepare for my tattoo?
The day before your appointment, make sure you eat well throughout the day and are drinking plenty of water. Be sure to get a good nights sleep, and eat a filling breakfast the morning of. Avoid excess alcohol consumption the night before and excessive caffeine consumption the day of. Be sure to bring items to keep you entertained during the tattoo. The most popular items are headphones (consider wired headphones as wireless ones may die mid session), a book, a well charged phone, and snacks. Downloading an audiobook is not a bad idea either.
  • What should I wear for my tattoo appointment?
Loose fitting clothes are ideal for making sure you are comfortable and to provide access for the area being tattooed. Ink transfer onto clothing is possible so please don't wear your nicest attire! STERNUM A button down shirt with no undergarments or a bra that can fully expose the area you're looking to get tattooed. Pasties are also totally fine if you're comfortable wearing them. COLLARBONES A shirt that can easily pull off of your shoulders and away from your neckline. BACK A button down or zip front shirt that you can flip around to fully expose the back. Please avoid undergarments if possible, or a bra that can unclasp in the back. For low back placement, please wear low rise jeans or loose pants that can easily be pulled down. SIDE OF HIP/BUTT Underwear that can easily expose the area to be tattooed. A skirt or pants are great for extra coverage, and can help keep the other leg warm during the process. ARMS/LEGS A shirt or pants that can easily be rolled up if necessary. I WANT TO ENSURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WHILE BEING TATTOOED! For tattoos that expose intimate areas, room dividers will be placed around the station to allow privacy. Nipple covers are available upon request. Please do not hesitate to ask me for anything that ensures you a comfortable experience!
  • Can I use numbing cream?
I use a less abrasive, low dose lidocaine spray during most sessions. This spray works on open skin only, so it is usually applied after the lines are laid. I do not allow the use of numbing cream before an appointment, as these are largely unregulated, and produce irregular results from client to client. They make the skin difficult to work with which will lengthen the process and can result in spotty healing. Please do not arrive to your appointment with numbing cream on, as you will be sent home and a new deposit will be required.
  • What payment options do you accept?
Deposits are usually taken via Venmo, otherwise cash is preferred at the time of the appointment. Venmo is fine as well. I do not accept card, and unfortunately we do not have an ATM in our shop, so keep this in mind.
  • Can I bring a friend?
Yes! You are welcome to bring a buddy or family member with you to your appointment. Please only bring one additional person to ensure a focused environment for our artists and clients.
  • What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
Things come up, life happens. It's ok! Please let me know as early as possible if you encounter a scheduling error or you are sick and need to reschedule. Each deposit is good for one reschedule provided enough notice is provided - if you reschedule or cancel within 48 hours of our appointment, your deposit is forfeit and a new one will be required to book. If you are running late to your appointment, please let me know if you are able (no emailing and driving) - there is a 15 minute grace period. If you are over 15 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and a new deposit will be required to reschedule.
  • Where can I buy soap and moisturizer for tattoo aftercare?
You should be able to find Aquaphor, Eucerin, and Dial Gold Liquid Soap at a corner store such as CVS or Walgreens pretty easily.
  • Where can I purchase a mirror from you?
Head to the Store section of my website to see all available mirrors and prints. I do these mirrors in my free time, so I apologize if all are sold out. Please keep an eye on the store or my Instagram page for information on when new mirrors are set to be available.
  • Will I get to see the design before our appointment?
You will see your design when you arrive for your appointment. Minor changes (such as a small color switch, ect) can usually be made on the spot, but large concept changes or additions will require a reschedule. To ensure I have the best idea of what you're looking for, please be as descriptive as possible when submitting the request form. It's important to add what you'd like in your tattoo, but noting what you wouldn't like can be just as helpful, too.
  • Do you take commissions on your mirrors?
Currently I don't accept commissions or custom orders for my mirrors.
